No phone here. Thanks for turning it, INH.

    No maker's mark?

Seller said there is a TM but they didn't photograph it. It has sold already now I should have jumped on it

I think they did, just didn't do a great job of pointing it out. Look at your last picture - there's something on the wheel - right side, under the right most mark punch (the one that should be the monarch's head.)

I agree it's lovely and elaborate, but can anyone speak to why it's so crude?

That's why I thought it was going to be Hanau. Would never have guessed English.

Tomatoes used to be called "love apples". Maybe that ties into the symbolism.

@Nathan Lindop, any chance you could post clearer close-ups of the Marks???? THANKS!!!!!

So skip that, since it’s gone already, and either I missed the clearer image that you, INH, flipped.....or you sharpened it up very nicely!!!!!

Well, the way I see it, you're the one asking, so you should make things as easy as possible for the people you are asking for help.
The way you posted the marks would mean to many of us either turning the computer upside down, asking someone else to do that for us if we can't manage it, or standing on our heads. Somehow none of these options seem attractive to me, especially if the person asking can't be bothered.

Thank you for helping, @i need help .:)

It was most likely originally sold as a small sweetmeat or bon-bon spoon/server (it's only 4" long). Over the years have seen several 1890s British pieces made in the style of Hanau or Dutch 'Historical' silver, though I did try to see an 'F' import mark in that fifth punch above the leopard head, but just doesn't look like it (there wouldn't be a duty mark on an 1894 item). The maker/sponsor mark on the left ends with a 'W', but can't make out the first letter...
