1926 Oil Painting

Found this 1926 oil painting recently and have been trying to research on the artist. I am going to assume this was an amateur piece but thought i would post it anyway, just in case. Also is there a particular style you would call this. It reminds me of something but for the life of me I cannot remember what. Thanks

 

The eyes - are freaking me out!

 

I think it more likely that yours is a contemporary work, painted perhaps from a 1926 photograph. The style would be considered "representational" as it depicts a scene that is recognizable as being from the real world.

I think someone took a family photo (snap to the British contingent) and did a painting from it. The eyes are...strange.

 

I like it. With no research, I think Debora/evelyb30 are likely right about the time frame.

Even without the artistic stylings that would be unlikely in 1926, the back of the canvas does not ring true for that time.

 

That's part of what I was thinking too; that canvas is 1980s or later.
