This lovely and elaborate spoon definately victorian. But what the hell is it for? A spoon with holes in always foxes me as to what it's for. I'll learn over time like us all :D

Picture this: a late Victorian family dinner...small son is annoying his mother and father by slurping his peas.

After several entreaties, mother picks up her weapon, and whacks the brat on the elbow.

    "Harold!! I said ENOUGH!!

Barely qualifies as a spoon, does it? Image looks like Venus in her chariot drawn by doves:

It's like something you'd be given to eat your soup with when you were famished. If you were in Dante's Inferno.

I'm sorry, I'm in a festive mood, and allowed to be silly.:wacky:

    Hi,
A berry spoon would be a bit deeper. I agree with it being a tomato server.

I can only think of one thing: since I can't see a size, I am imagining a longish implement for retrieving ice from the bucket.

    Bonbon server?

Gonna need a better focused image of the marks. All I can see is a capital T (and even that is not for sure.)

A tomato server needs to be flat to slide under tomato slices. This looks slightly curved upward at the edges, & certainly not smooth enough to slide easily. Some of the openings look quite large. Knowing the size would be useful, but my impression is that most types of berries would fall through.

I see a capital serif style T in a shield, presumably a date letter. Looks more like the Glasgow unicorn than the English lion. As Bakers has just added, need better photos.

Would not surprise me if this turns out to be from Hanau. On style alone.

The last time Glasgow used that style of T was in 1838. I have have serious doubts.
