Collar brooch

    Evening ,

    I was wondering if you could help please ?
    I have come across what appears to be a gold and pearl collar brooch on a old blouse that was underneath a vintage fur shawl .
    Looking on previous threads, the clasp indicates it’s after 1930 .
    It doesn’t have any hallmarks only a stamp that says “606” looking on another thread this doesn’t match up to 10, 12,14,15 or 18 kt gold.
    Could it just me a metal ? Any help would be much appreciated

    Jemma, I think the "jewelry experts" are going to need much better photos, including ones of the back.

    Ok , thanks I will see what I can sort out , I struggle with pictures as it always tells me they are too big

    Hi, Jemma. Yes, it could be base metal (rather than precious metal) & 606 a style number. If the pearls are artificial (rub one against the edge of a tooth; real ones feel gritty while artificial ones are glassy) think you can be sure it's a very pretty brooch of costume quality. From the one photo, appears to be in good condition. There is nothing about it that makes it specifically for wear at or on a collar.

    It could be 909 as in 90.9 purity.

    Yeah it seem it looks better as 909 and it’s the right way round like that ! I will try and take some better pictures.
