Just curious if anyone is successful at selling tea leaf ironstone these days? I see a good bit of it, but haven't bought any for years after interest dropped. Time to buy to sell again? Thanks for any insights....

I'm in CA. Up to a couple of years ago, I still had people coming in asking for tea leaf. Then I stumbled upon several pieces at fairly low prices. Haven't sold one piece.

People are putting it up for sale, but I'm not seeing a lot of it moving.

Thanks for the replies -- that is what I assumed ... and you're correct, more up for sale than I remember. And presumably not a lot moving.

Well, I am in the market for one of those huge, pobby sugars. With a lid. Unfortunately, can't afford any of the ones I see. I also need some of the smaller dinner plates, as some of mine went crash. I quite like the tea leaf pattern. Pork chops do not sit kindly on my pink-flowered Limoges -- and I like pork chops! Tea leaf is perfect.

It's not my personal thing, but I am a copper freak. It's not the ugliest thing you could keep around, for sure. Hmmm. just in case. http://www.tealeafclub.com/
Maybe these guys could turn you on to a source?

    Hi Silver,
Are you looking for the Wedgwood tea leaf or the Jewel Tea Co stuff?

Wedgwood (and all the others). Jewel is not my colors.

The Jewel Tea stuff is "Autumn Leaf."

    Hwy 49
Store is in Jackson. We have 16 antique stores on Main St.
If you plan on coming - don't come on a Tuesday; half of them are closed.

And if you are in the area, tomorrow Sat. March 21 or Sun. March 22, we have our annual flea market, called Dandelion Days. Unfortunately, no longer an antique flea market. More craft and food. Still a lot of fun.

I was more curious than anything. My wife has an Aunt and Uncle that live in the Fort Bragg area who were huge Tea Leaf collectors.

Ahh - Fort Bragg is about 4 hours or more from where I'm at.
If they were big collectors, they probably have what I have. Mix bowls, coffee pot and souffle (round baker)

I am pretty sure they do. I know they used to travel to "Tea Leaf" conventions.

The only way I have been able to sell tea leaf is if it is dirt cheap. Not really any different than most stoneware and china. Everything truly old is out. Only the MCM stuff does better.

I still do very well with pre-1900 English white ironstone, just plain, no gold bands, no flowers.... Customers are all ages and sexes and are buying because they see walls with platters, and cupboards with pitchers. Too bad I can't get rid of the tea leaf decoration!
