So I have been doing a ton of research and have been talking with people on an other forum that I belong to and we cannot figure out origins of this piece. It is 12" long and marked "Trabajo Mano" "925" and "AC" it also loos like it has a little something that was worn off above the "mano". Any help would be great.

Hi Chris. I saw your post about this dish on ebay and went looking at the few resources I know of for Mexican silver marks - no success, I'm afraid. But I wanted you to know your query has been seen.

I believe that at least 2 of our other members are likely to have additional references that I don't, so be patient. :)

Thank you for the response. I am in no rush for information but I have also never been this stumped. When I receive a piece (doesn't matter what it is) I get crazy about needing to know what it is. I even lose sleep sometimes if I get an idea after I lay down I need to get up and check it out haha.

Could that be "Peru" above the Mano?

ETA: Trabajo means work, job, craft in Spanish and mano means hand.

So maybe something like "Hand made (or crafted) in Peru"?

I think the rubbed word above "mano" is "PERU."

Oops, we're cross posting. Looks like it means handcrafted in Peru. :)

As tie dye said mano means hand in Spanish. Trabajo translates to job so the combined words, Trabajo Mano, probably means job by hand of another way of saying hand made.

The AC or HC over near the silver purity 925 is probably the Peruvian silversmith. I'm sorry, i know very very little about Peruvian silversmiths.

Oooops, tie, we did it again!

Okay Peru is what I was possibly also thinking. Now to just tackle the dang AC. I did start narrowing to Peruvian silver. Great info. Thanks!

Duh! I was reading that rubbed part starting with P as PLATA. Peru makes much more sense.

Trabajo mano means hand work: trabajo can also mean work as well as job.

The AC is in a unique font. Maybe that could help.

Hmm still coming up with no leads to the potential maker... going to dig in and spend the next hour or so deep in the depths of the internet.
