There are a few gold/silver buyers around here. I weigh and check that day's price before I go to see them. Usually it is a guy about 45 minutes from here that gives me the best price :)

Had a great day yesterday WOO-HOO!!!!!

At a winter indoor flea market, 2 McCoy vases, an American cut glass heart-shaped scent bottle with silver mount, a pressed glass scent bottle with silver mount, 4 plastic scotty dog napkin rings (fairly recent but cute) and a nice old 2-panel bread board:

A silver filigree mystery stone necklace, 2 Christmas tree pins and 2 nice mosaic pins:

Then later in the day I had to go to the Transfer Station and stopped in the Swap Shop. I got there just as someone dropped off a box of jewelry, all this was free!
Sterling pin and earring set, 3 dress clips, 2 pins and 2 bracelets...

Wait,wait-at this 'Transfer Station' the stuff is free ? You have great instincts-but still, are there so many rich folks on the Cape that they just give their jewelry away ? That's the most peculiar thing I've ever seen, like a paralell dimension -what's up with yr hood ?
After 50 years of hunting this is unique, least to me.I mean I've gotten freebies out of dumpsters but...
Hope I'm not being intrusive, but as the Brits say-I'm 'gobsmacked'.

There are several gold buyers close to me. The one closest is good, he gives 85% which is the best deal I can find. I can usually figure it out at home and know within a few dollars what he'll give me.

Not many rich folks go to the Transfer Station (where garbage and recyclables are "transferred" to where they have to go), they have garbage companies come to take their trash and recyclables away. We lowly, regular people go to the station ourselves. I often see and catch up with friends there ;)

The Swap Shop is run by volunteers and you can find anything from furniture to glassware to jewelry to flower pots to toys to books and so on. A lot of what is there is stuff that did not sell at yard sales. Also when someone is moving, or a family member passed away, it is a place to take stuff to just get it out of the house. I have found some great things there, yesterday I just happened to stop in at the right time :)

BOOM! Score! Free is always good. My local dump used to have a take it/leave it area but it's not manned or womanned. Never saw anything crazy when I used to go. The sterling set (VanDell? Danecraft?) could work as Christmas jewelry, to go with your pins. The all-rhinestone one looks like Warner, but...?

The sterling set is only marked "sterling". No Warner, the clear rhinestone pin is marked Austria, the only other marked pieces are the Weiss and Coro sets.

Our Swap Shop is open all year long, it's a small building and 2 years ago they started collecting donations of rigid insulation so they could make it more comfortable in cold weather. There is a really nice group of people who volunteer and I'm glad they insulated the building.

Yesterday when I was there they were asking what something was in the jewelry box. They had a lot of really strange suggestions. I told them it is a glove clip.

Today when I stopped by I brought them a printout of the attached photo of a glove clip attached to its original card showing how you use it. They got a real kick out of it and were very happy I brought it.
