The hat was the reason she caught my eye, but then I fell in love with the dress!

@Figtree3 a bit more from the reverse

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I don't think that address was in the Wikipedia article, was it? I'll have to remember to look for it later.

Edited: I see the address is in the article. It doesn't say when he started business there, but was there at the end of his career. And I think your photo of the boy is from the 1880s so that seems to line up. By the way, I found this very interesting blog post about the history of the building at 872 Broadway! http://daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-hawes-building-no-872-broadway.html?m=1

Some goodies from Saturday morning. I found some scrap gold bits, single earrings, and a Knights of Columbus rosary. The find of the day was a bag of doll clothes that all appear to be hand made and older than dirt. The surprise was it included a pile of doll hats. The other (glorp) moment was a center doily and four coasters made of pink linen and hand tatted. The earrings on the tatting pieces are 10k, but they're not junk - I think they're real Black Hills.

I could be wrong, but I'm seeing more Oya (Mediterranean knotted needle lace) than tatting.

Pinterest can be a pain, but this is LynxLaceLady's page, so it's awesome. :happy:https://www.pinterest.com/lynxlacelady/needle-lace-puncetto-oya-chebka/

That sure looks like it! It's fine enough to be tatting, but needle lace is probably the right name for it. Royal pain in the butt to do no matter what you call it.

If you're selling it, be sure to include "knotted" and/or "Armenian Needlelace". This will keep the "True Needle Lace" hunters from getting frustrated.

Seldom get out much, but a couple of weeks ago, stopped by Goodwill for the last hour open, spent a bit over $8.00 with my discount. Had to take Mom to the emergency room yesterday, so decided to edit the pics (she's fine - suspected she was getting a UTI, test strips finally confirmed it, so took her in).

Not really a 'pink' person, but do have a weakness for pretty pink & white china - tickled to find the Sunderland lustre cream jug with meandering squiggle and nice painted transfer birds:

Studio pottery vase that couldn't be resisted (dragonflies!):

Another little studio pottery piece with cool mocha-diffusion glaze:

    Peruvian Chulucanas pottery vase:

Big glass egg, Chinese, but I like it anyway:

Ram horn, found its place hugging my Billiken:

I'm going to guess that there's a lot of machine lace masquerading as the real stuff.
Lord knows there's plenty of "accidentally miscategorized" stuff on Ebay in other areas.

Lots of chunky beads bought in the summer, the vendor said her late Mother would go to Scotland on holiday so I think maybe the agates were from there. D0ED119B-7BA1-4547-B984-4404EC56E6A3.jpeg
