    Hello
I have one question that I need your advice about.
One of the UK antique shops sells this candelabra for 925 USD that includes item delivery to my country(and my house),as they say,it it a pair of "large French Greek revival brass and bronze candelabras with 3 arms and central sconces with removable phoenix finials which also double up as snuffers. The arms have looped chain decoration and stand on Corinthian columns with tri-pod bases which stand on 3 paw feet. Circa 1870"
Below here see the pictures UK.jpg UK.jpg uk2.jpg
what do you think?is it overpriced?is this a genuine item?all your ideas are highly appreciated
    Thank you

The date could be right. The price is too much I think, but let's wait for the others.

I wouldn't pay that much, but then I'm a cheapskate. They'd look great in the right setting. Those sticks might even be Russian. If they're 19th century Russian then that price tag doesn't sound so bad.

The seller says they are French,I am not going to pay that much but I would think about 500 USD (inc transportation)
I would still prefer French then Russian ;)

Nick is in Georgia, which is next door to Russia. I don't know how it would be there.
    Could be French.

Nick, they are very elegant and would look lovely in the perfect setting, but I fear the price is a little stiff.

Very nice, but 925 dollars!? Yikes!

And the Phoenix is the bird of fire. It should be holding matches in its beak, not snuffing out the flames!!

I know, I was thinking about possible resale value in Georgia.:) Maybe more if they are French than if they are Russian?
Those were originally church candle sticks, very nice. Many churches have closed here, and of the ones that remained, many have modernized the interiors. The Dutch are very much "out with the old, in with the new", often too much.:arghh:

Oh,I thought the Dutch appreciated the old ;)
    I have several friends in Netherlands,some of them-retired art theoretics,art teachers-love them :)
