I know next to nothing about pottery, so anything you can help with is very much appreciated. I thought this piece looked sort of interesting. It is about 8 1/4" high with 4 3/4" base. Any thoughts on age, origin, etc? Thank you for your time.:cat:

I wonder if it could be one of those antique Chinese utilitarian food storage jars... ? It sure has prominent mold marks though, so maybe that's a clue it's not.

Thanks so much lauragarnet.:) Much appreciated. Are the mold marks the ones running vertically down the sides?, or the other cracks that are all over?:wacky:

The shape is not traditional Chinese, neither the foot. I suspect it is a decorative piece. Maybe made in Southeast Asia.

Hi Kardinalismo, and thanks for the help. It may very well be just a decorative piece, I don't know, but it makes me wonder because 2 different dealers tried to pick it out of my pile at the sale that I got it from, so I thought, hey maybe it's something good, LOL. Thanks again:cat:
