Picked this up at a sale today. Not cheap but it seemed worth a gamble. Quite heavy at over 60g. Not signed or marked other than JH lightly scratched in surface. Figured more likely the owner initials than the silversmith. On that note I assume it’s silver. I suppose there is a chance it’s plated or pewter but I’m pretty confident it’s silver. After I decided to buy it the lady at the sale handling jewelry claimed she tested it electronically and that it was 83%.There were some Nordic looking pieces in the sale. That along with the supposed silver content would lean me that way. I’m not well versed in the design of that region but I’ve seen a decent amount of it. This doesn’t seem like it doesn’t fit in. Looks like it could be adopted from a design earlier people’s of that region liked. Am I on the right track or is it something to totally different? 2FB744E7-4290-4C04-83B0-E7A25A492AA5.jpeg 88D9ACCD-942E-49DC-A20B-E72AA66C3393.jpeg 3491D50F-5FAE-4578-B65E-9D2175776DCC.jpeg 5F453180-046B-486F-AD2B-29B9A5BCD8F7.jpeg

I like it! I adore a big heavy cuff bracelet.
I get a NA vibe. It appears to be well made.

Polish that poor puppy and I bet you will see any marks more clearly :)

It is a gorgeous cuff. I agree that there is a possibility it is based on old Nordic cuffs. Some of the Baltic states with an important Viking history have also been making Nordic style jewellery, and they used to use silver in the same fineness range.
But the design is pretty generic, and without an assay mark, or the same cuff with positive ID, it is difficult to be certain of the origin.

I feel like I see remnants possibly of something but nothing that would ever be visible again. I looked really close.

Maybe I’ll polish the back. I have never found a bracelet in my entire life that I like both the look of and the way it fits my skinny wrists. This one I slipped on just to see if it fit and then realized I had found the one. I actually like the way the top side looks. I would not want to wear a shiny piece. I could always polish the bottom side though.

It would always be nice to know but I’ll be ok with just a nice piece too. Originally bought to flip and then put it on last night and realized I liked it for me. I’ll keep an eye on Baltic jewelry to see if anything similar pops up. I got it for $50 which is more than I’d usually pay for an unmarked and like you said semi generic looking piece but I liked the design, the bench made quality, and weight of the piece. For 2ozt of silver in a nice form that’s still a great price even if a bit more than I’d often pay.

I think $50 was a very low price for a heavy and well made item like this one. Plus, it's a collectible that you can wear!

Agreed. I mean retail would have to be 3-8x that depending on different factors I’d imagine.
