Beautiful quarter sawn oak table with barley twist legs. "Early 20th Century." My guess would be around 1910-20.

High quality, but of course with the ongoing recession in the antiques market it's not worth alot, at least in the U.S. midwest, where you could probably get it at auction for $75-$150.

Drop leaf barley twister, quite common.
Brown furniture is not popular at the moment.
The last one I had went for £50.

Amen. It's criminal that a table like this would go for as much - or less - than some contemporary pressed sawdust crap.

Unfortunately it is the age we live in.

A useful, really well made little thing, perfect for a small modern house, too. Mad, isn't it. But at least you saved it.

Awesome - I finally know what my free upright piano is made of!! Half of it was painted vomit green - ahem - 'antiqued green' - but what I've been able to get off (and what wasn't ruined by some fool) is this exact same pattern of wood. It's lovely, if a bit out of tune, and now I'm compelled to refinish it all. In the spring. ;)
