I can see a budding jewellers business there.:playful: You don't need to do anything, except wear a gorgeous Flemish cross, the kids do the rest.

Any Jewelry: I tried to get my oldest daughter follow the 'Jewelry design' degree in school. She didn't want to.:(
Maybe I can still sneak her into a Goldsmith course in a few years time. The girls really like my old Flemish jewelry, luckily. Although they say I dont ALWAYS buy the pieces they like best :joyful:

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

Ha! Spinel it must be... Don't know if synthetic or natural, but I suspect synthetic wouldn't have inclusions :)
    See there!

    Ah well...
Only if she wants to. But who knows, maybe the idea will grow on her. How old is she?
They can buy their prefered jewellery when they have enough money of their own to spend on jewellery.;)
I have always worn jewellery, but started collecting as a young teen. I think I was 13 when I bought my first Native American piece. At 14 my first Mexican jewellery.

Kyratango, yes I think so too! The Uv-fluorescence also looks right for Spinel. Any Jewelry was right about that all along offcourse

    Yay!
    :shy::happy:
I thought it was spinel because if its traditional use, and its wide range of colours, including this yellowish green.

Today spinel is a bit underrated, which is why not many people think of it. It is a beautiful stone though, and the variety of colours means it can be used in any kind of jewellery.

Any Jewelry, they are 14, 13 and 7. The girls are very creative and are excellent in painting/drawing. My oldest daughter also enjoys crafting her own jewelry with beads.
I hope indeed the idea will grow on her. But whatever makes her happy, I will be happy with:happy:

    She is still young.
When I was about ten, my parents enrolled me in a craft class where I also learned to make jewellery. It was meant for adults, but when my parents showed the teacher some of my craft 'stuff' and told him I was really careful, I was allowed to join. Maybe there is something similar where you are, that she might enjoy doing?
    Of course!

It's a lot more fun to make stuff than to buy it sometimes. It's why i don't shop craft fairs; why buy it when I can have the pleasure of making my own??? Do they have PMC classes in your part of the world @Dessert58 ? Precious Metal Clay, that is - usually silver. You mold it like clay and then fire it in a kiln and burn the clay out.

I actually buy my silver clay in Belgium, which is where Dessert lives.:playful:
I only use it for repairs though.

Never tried using it for a repair; I'd be too chicken.

There are indeed some craft classes she (and I) could follow in our town.
But, like with most things in life, its all about priorities.
We have in fact already been looking into fire clay courses and I was kind of hoping you could use it for repairs, but we will see. First things first.
I m very curious though...Any jewelry: does it work for repairs and are you brave enough to use it with better pieces?

I have only used it for small details on minor pieces. If I buy better pieces I prefer to buy them so I don't have to do anything with them, except maybe replace a missing stone or bail.

I don't have a kiln, but you can also use a regular oven. I also use a small hand torch (burner) and an embossing tool, which is like a very hot small blow dryer.

And these are certainly times to check our priorities. Especially here in Europe, although your government has instituted a 'ceiling' price for gas. I believe they have that anyway, not just now.

Any Jewelry, you are smarter than me. I m a sucker for poor condition pieces that I still want to buy and 'save'. But they end up in my ever growing 'to be fixed' pile.:hilarious:

I am probably not smarter than you, but since I am a bit older, that 'to be fixed' pile grew so high I decided to stop.:joyful:
So now I only buy things that needed a tiny bit of tweaking.

I have one of those heat guns around somewhere. When I took a PMC course years ago they wanted us to bring in blow dryers. The heat gun was too hot. Since I haven't used a blow dryer since the 90s, and not much even then, I had to actually go out and buy one.:greedy::greedy::arghh::arghh::arghh:
