I bought this one today mainly because it’s small and round and I don’t often see that. I also convinced myself it might be vintage and good quality (but again I don’t really know)

It’s also not 100% round but very slightly oval (is that good or bad?) Maybe a sign that it is hand woven? It this good quality? What are the signs that I need to look for? Knots? It’s 81cm across one side and 77cm across the other. It does look little rough or used.
    Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks like someone salvaged this from a larger, probably rectangular piece that had been damaged, perhaps. Most looms don't accommodate round or oval work.

It is quite attractive...I would probably have picked it up, too. Thanks...

Great.Thank you for replying and for the link. Using ‘tabriz’ as a search term I see there’s several different sizes available. Will do some more reading (hopefully I can get some clues as to the age)

No worries. Still appreciate you taking a look and replying. Personally I sometimes feel more often wrong than right when it comes to these things

    Very cute!

Needs cleaning, though. The colours under all that grime would be amazing, once it's been washed properly.

Thanks for that. I would real like to learn about carpets and rugs and how to identify quality. This was only about $5 (so maybe not bad overall) just needs a good clean..

It looks quite standard, but still very attractive. I'd look up rug-cleaning companies in your area, and send it off to them.

Look up "rug cleaning videos" on youtube and just sit back and watch the magic that is cleaning a dirty old rug. Once you see how much crap is really inside one of these things, you'll DEFINITELY want to get it cleaned.
