Age of Japanese plate

    Hello everyone - I wonder if anyone might be able to help me to date this Japanese plate. One person advised that he thought it was most likely early Meiji/late Edo Hichozan. Just wondered if any can be more precise or confirm his thoughts? Sadly, it's not signed. Many thanks

    I dunno. I always thought this was Japanese ware for export to the West. I could be wrong about that. Sorry to say that stamped gilding and the quick drawing and painting point to lower quality, mass produced stuff. Decorative, though. Satsuma style and early 20th c (first 3rd likely). If you google satsuma pottery images, you'll see lots of different styles and qualities.
