    hi all

think this was the favourite om my local auction wins, bargain at £5 i think

all handpainted, watercolour ? gouache ?

in the auction photo didnt necceassarily look hand painted, but i had a sneaking suspicion

wondering if its more georgian than victorian, as they tend to be more in this looser style

    any info or thoughts appreciated

im thinking the frame is a replacement, as it looks like it was once in a circular frame

Is that a siggie on the bottom though, then a circular frame would have covered that.

    hi house

yeah i did think that as well, the round does crop the siggy out,

there is a definite round though, maybe reframed a couple of times ?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi @charlie cheswick! She's a cool cameo!!! It does look like a siggy below what looks like a rose, but try as I might, I just cannot make it very clear!!! I DID brighten/contrast her a bit to try and bring it out, but it didn't do a lot! Also separated what I thought I saw as the signature....but it does look.....broken up?? Maybe a larger A or H first and then what I can't read in red....maybe 'BURN', then 3 more letters in the initial brown...but not totally sure what they are....ATE, or AFE??? Just SO NOT sure.....

Thanks aqui, your a star, it's a hard one to make out

She's a little bit Bette Davis what ever happened to baby jane, but that might just be the eyebrows :)

Isn't it interesting how she sings much more naturally when she also plays the piano? She should always accompany herself, it helps her vocal expression be her own. With a strong voice and sweet charm like that you don't need frills.
And yes, she is a beauty, with a beautiful voice.:)

    Got sidetracked.:shame:
Maybe it's me, but the brooch itself looks older than the painting. It also looks like the portrait was once in another frame.
The brooch is ca 1900 imo. It is of the type you often see cameos in. The portrait, I don't know.

Yeah I agree, it sets her own pace

Natural beauty as well, not done up like a dog's dinner !

    That beautiful hair

Makes me smile the thought of you watching American idol :)

She didn't win but got to perform with Lindsey Buckingham which is a win in itself, ropey performance though

Another talented redhead from the same season,

I think this is unbelievably brilliant, original song as well

She does look hand done on porcelain. And I agree the frame is way later.

I think AJ was saying the setting/frame is earlier than the painted portrait? The heart-shaped mouth/lips look more mid-1900s (very I Love Lucy) to me but WDIK. Just throwing that out there.

I had the same thought, that the frame was older. And also wondered if the painting was more, as said, mid 1900s. The style of the painting looks later.

Edit: Any chance that frame is gold? I see some what looks like solder maybe, but you might want to check.
