Water is even becoming a problem here in the Netherlands, a river delta country by the sea.
Again, due to laws that were not thought through properly, like a ban on using rainwater for human consumption. When polluted W. European rainwater is filtered properly, you can use it.
And build high capacity reservoirs, simple as that. But of course they never did that because there was never a need to. Now there is a construction ban because the nitrogen deposits in our soil are too high for EU standards, and construction traffic causes too much nitrogen.

It is thought that certain parts of the country will be without water next summer.

Welcome to our world-frightening. We need to use desalination like Israel IMO.

Malta uses it too, it works fine.

Where I live, in the southern province of Brabant, water during summer has been a problem for years, although not as bad as in desert regions.
Next year part of Holland will face the same situation. Holland is the dominant part of the country. That will probably wake them up.;)

I got it for $40. I love the idea of old turquoise.

I think it will go nicely with my bracelet. Now for a necklace or pendant, I can afford.

You sound like me, I always love sets, even if they aren't by the same maker but look good together.;)

Yes. I find that old things don't often come in sets, so you have to try and match as best you can. All is good; I enjoy the hunt.

I live on the Pacific Ocean, and my career brought me in contact with an experimental desalination process that our city was trying to develop. It's merit was it was less costly than current methods, and it didn't result in hot, concentrated effluent being put into the ocean near the coast. (This can bring about problematic environmental changes.) It worked on a small scale, failed on a larger scale. At least here, desalination costs more that ground water.

Actually, we have a large-scale reclaimed water plant that produces vast amounts of clean water from wastewater. Most of it is dumped into the river, because there is minimal acceptance of it. One of the problems is having to maintain two water systems, one for reclaimed water which has a higher mineral content and one for ground water. Again, expense is a factor.

We have that too. I don't think anyone has a problem with that here, it is all cleaned naturally by plants and specific bacteria that are harmless to people.
I can see that the idea can put people off, but with water becoming a problem worldwide (too many people, climate change) we have to think solutions.

Locally we also have water that is pumped up from the same earth strata as Spa mineral water, a Belgian brand. Needless to say, it is good quality and tastes nice. When relatives from other parts of the country come to visit, they alyways want a glass of water.;)
Our source was originally owned by the Philips factories, that used the water industrially, but it is now owned by the local water company.

Ooops. I wasn't trying to debate the issue. I was just adding a perspective.
