I'd be interested to learn the age and purpose of this metal tin, the lid of which bears an American eagle emblem in brass .

Not sure of the measurements, apart from the seller stating that it was a 'large' tin - presumably five inches plus in diameter. I'm deliberating at the moment whether to acquire it, but would prefer to know a bit more about it first.

    Any help gratefully appreciated !

That's it cracked, then ! Many. many thanks indeed, Mr B for taking the time to help resolve my query - your effort is greatly appreciated.
I would have thought that Mrs Steven would have required the President's permission before using his seal on her candies (?) - similar to the UK products that were supplied to the Royal Household being allowed to carry the Royal Crest.

maybe because it's a tribute to many Presidents...as opposed to the current one.

The Great Seal of the United States. Has nothing to do with an individual person but rather the country as a whole.
