    I was looking at that Birthday cake plate and am a little confused. wouldn't candles around the cake melt the frosting? and how would you be able to blow out all of them at the same time without turning it at the same time?

    That plate was always on everyone's watch list. I never found one but I know of at least three that came from estate sales for next to nothing. A friend found 2 for a buck apiece years ago.

    I recently sold a Candlewick 400/205 3 toed bowl for $55 and a 400/63 ice tub for 40. There was a time when it woulda been maybe 90-100 and 75-80 or so but I wasn't disappointed by those sales one bit all things considered. American is the same way. most of it is dead in the water but that's because there is a LOT of it out there, but get an unusual piece and it doesn't take long to find a buyer...at a REALISTIC present day price. I've sold a lot of each but I've ALWAYS been selective in the pieces I've handled.
    There will always be collectors seeking the hard to find.....On the other hand I have a to DIE for Heisey Orchid bell I can't GIVE away. i can't figure that one out.

    These prices have dropped a lot in the last twenty years.
    I have the glass price guide book by Washburn fourth edition 1994. your bowl is listed at 160 and the ice tub at 120
    About one third of the prices twenty years ago.

    Yeah but unless the piece was exceptional I was only getting about two thirds book 20 years ago.
    I have Garrison's Candlewick book and they're even a little higher in there, but even then the favorite line was always "Then sell it to the book."

    That is good for the buyer, But not so for the seller.
