Featured 1800s Cryptic Zipper Compote Duncan & Sons, Pittsburg EAPG

    Hi all,

    I found this recently.

    Looks like our "Tallcakes" discussed one 10 years ago on the "collector's weekly" forum. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/86126-duncan-and-sons-cryptic-zipper-block-eap.

    Unfortunately, there are some cracks and chipping. Ill probably just leave it as is but am open to suggestions on preserving cracked glass.

    Not sure if collectors would want it despite the damage or how rare these are nowadays (there's one on Etsy).

    Thanks in advance in case anyone should comment.

    not sure how 'rare' this pattern may be that the damage might be considered by a collector. The shear/straw marks are not a concern, but the crack and chipping are definitely a concern. One never knows when an internal or contained crack will expand; I shared by experience with a small stress crack on a large cake stand:
