I'm not sure what to make of this ring. It looks 1930's-1940's possibly Uncas but the makers mark has been worn down and is illegible. Signed 'STERLING', stones are likely glass or paste. It has a lovely setting which I adore. Does anyone have thoughts or ideas on who the maker is? image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Sure looks like the remains of an Uncas mark.

Looks like the mark was cut and partially covered with solder while sizing the ring.

Can either of you tell me WHERE on the ring the "suspected" mark MIGHT be located, @mekanak18 or @evelyb30??? Granted, it's only RARE when I can bring something that faded or worn out......

The mark is just right of the G in sterling.

What there is of it, anyway, hence the problem.

@mekanah18, I'm not sure I was very successful.....I enlarged the image-close up 3X and inverted it.....top image shows that, and below image is original close up but shows some letters I can't quite make out under the 'STERLING' letters. When I inverted the image, I think I'm seeing the front half of a tiny pig, but that's just ME!!!:happy::)

Its a Sterling Vargas ring. Popular silver jewelry company throughout the 40s-50s. The mark is a v inside of a diamond, but it seems like part of the v wore off to make it hard to make out. I hope this helps!

That setting is very mid century to me so that makes sense.
