Here's an advertisement from 1929 selling novelty lamps.

I love Bergman (style) figurines, especially the Orientalist ones.
Orientalism in art generally meant subjects from North Africa and from what we now call the Middle East.
Of course the western part of North Africa is further west than Western Europe, but never let the truth get in the way of a catchy art term.;)

Anyway, this charming lamp is indeed Orientalist.

    My god man

I’m a fool for a good vintage lamp & have enjoyed the examples you’ve shared immensely

Last time I organized my collection (ok, it’s a hoard) I stopped counting at 675…
there’s been a good many over the threshold since then, but gee, I don’t have THIS one =D

I am also a lamp fanatic and find this type particularly charming. I actually have one very similar to the elephant lamp in the ad.

Nearly all my lamps are in storage and/or various states of restoration. I am no longer living in my house where they are stored, so no current access. I know the elephant lamp was bought in pieces nearly 30 years ago and remains in that state. I am afraid procrastination and other varied interests will relegate most of my lamps to this fate until my grave.

we all pass away with 'stuff' and stuff undone , some, more than others !

I have a large NA catlinite lamp...broken in two, and needs to be wired.....for over 20 years now......
I look at it from time to time.........:wideyed::wacky::wacky::wacky::wacky::(

Brad, I can relate, as I am in much the same predicament.
Currently I am on my family’s farm looking after my mom, her house, my grandparents house & the property. My lamps are stored in my building in the next town over, in an unfinished area. I’ll have to plan a day to go over & take pics, but will do in the next week or so.

Aside from collecting collections, I also seem to collect projects.
I'm a first class procrastinator, and notoriously slow. And when I finally get all the bits and bobs and tools together, along comes the next project, which is sooo interesting.

I have so many projects that I know I will never get to them in my lifetime. I do accomplish some of them so I guess that is progress. Have also moved some on so that someone else can have at them. It is sometimes difficult to prioritize, as I can not even get to many of them. I know that somewhere in my wall of boxes is that one thing that I really want to work on. In the meantime, I have 20 not so crucial projects staring me in the face.
