Would this be considered an Arts and Crafts vase? Approx 9" tall. The design is inlaid, but a very skinny inlay. Also tiny dent on one side, unsigned. Any suggestion on the maker? Also, worth listing with that dent?

    Thanks.

(That green color on the base is wax or some kind of putty.)

Looks very arts and crafts to me. The design looks like a stylized insect. Not typical of any works that I know of. Wonder if it might be a Japanese bronze vase that was decorated by someone in the West. Should have some value even with the dent but doubt you will get rich.

Slight amendment to my description above which might or might not change things.

This decoration is not an inlay. It seems to be painted on. I looked at it quickly with a cheap magnifying glass at first, and there is one small section that does seem to be carved out... the base of the insect or whatever it is, the line that goes down. That's what I saw when I first looked, and why I thought inlay, but no on further inspection the whole pattern is painted.

I also wondered about Japanese. Thanks for taking a look, Brad.

    Onlay, not inlay. :D

It's Japanese sgraffito, most likely. Sgraffito is a term for the "inlaid" parts.
