Please does anyone know what a right facing elephant denotes on the mark of a pair of sugar tongs?
Maybe plate? but the rest if the mark is too indistinct to see.
I've had a google and can only see left facing elephants!
I've tried to photograph but it's very indistinct.
    Thankyou

Here's a photo tip that I have found useful for dealing with small and indistinct silver marks. Use strong light, no flash and photograph from the side, not straight on. I take it you had to use a loupe or magnifying glass? Does the iPad camera not have a "macro" function?

And how about taking a picture of the whole tongs so we can see the shape and design.

In the for what it's worth category, I have only seen one reference to an elephant mark and that was a thread here in which the OP said his piece of German silver plate was made by Wellner. Unfortunately the picture of the mark that he provided (and claimed included an elephant in a circle) was too small to see whether that was really an elephant. An online reference to silver marks shows Wellner marks but none have an elephant in them.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

It looks like I'm seeing two elephants facing right...........possibly even a third one on the far left, but that one is really too blurry!!!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

@KSW , if you could post a picture of the entire item that may help, as somebody might recognize the shape or pattern.

Sorry for the radio silence, I got bogged down with children and work etc!
Here are some more photos. I discovered I can only post photos off the iPhone as my iPad is apparently too elderly to make the effort!
