    Yes, inro style, but I think this is Chinese made for the Japanese (or international) market.
    It looks like a single box, not stacked compartments like an inro.

    It is also tied with a Chinese 'Pan Chang' knot, one of the 8 Buddhist treasures.

    Yep. Chinese. Fortunately it's bone so if all else fails it can be resold to pay for a Japanese one. :)
