During WWII that was true in spades. Use what you could get instead of what you used to do. Some never went back to the old materials, or not for long. That was true for toys too, in spades.

Great observation. Now we call it recycling, but the process is impersonal and not inventive.

It's old school farmer thinking in dressier clothes these days. It's what part of my dad's family always did, Mom's too.

That’s a good plan. My necklace was a recent flea market find. All of my pieces are.

Recycling is different than repurposing although we all need to do both.

Really? That beautiful necklace was at a flea market? You have an excellent eye.

You're right. I misspoke. They are different things entirely.

Thank you. You are right. Turquoise is so varied in color and appearance. I used to have a ton of native american jewelry that I wore all the time. There was a lot of turquoise involved.

TY. Actually I first turned it down on weight and price and walked away. The price was totally fair-I loved it but didn’t need it. The dealer yelled out a price that I just couldn’t refuse as I was walking away. Can’t believe how many compliments I’ve gotten. I identified the artist but there’s little info.

I love that kind of transaction. I've gotten several good pieces that way. It was your lucky day!!!!!!
I think when I can't find something about an artist online that their pieces aren't for sale by anyone. People tend to keep their quality pieces.
