Mythical creature in trouble-brass box

    Hello

    I bought a brass box today, probably for cigars.

    The lid has a domed top with a mythical creature in a spot of bother. He is clinging to what i think is an aeroplane, missing one of his wings and looking frightened. All looks very Dr. Suess to me.

    Photos aren’t the best, difficult with all the reflections.

    13cm depth
    7cm height

    I don't think it is a mythical creature - it appears to be a human (arms, legs, long coat flapping). Perhaps an inventor on a contraption gone awry. Perhaps a Jules Verne illustration?

    That’s cool. Really like the weird illustration.Very unique. Still trying to figure what is going in the scene.

    OK, NOW, I see it's a coat with TAILS and NOT wings on his lower back!!! And YES, Jules Verne WAS MOST creative, wasn't he!!!!!!!!!
