I miss this group and seeing all of your finds. I have been under the weather on top of working 10 hours a day. Had a antibiotic-resistant UTI, took three different rounds of antibiotics to get rid of, and if it comes back, it's ER time. I have been extremely fatigued, but my primary care didn't want to order blood tests. I demanded them, and come to find out, my Epstein-Barr virus reactivated and I have a severe B-12 deficiency (I basically stopped eating meat to get my cholesterol down.) I have to conserve my energy for work at this point, but I went out for a few hours to three places yesterday. I really miss going to my weekend flea market, and I missed two of the best events of the year. :(

You take care. I hate it when a doctor cheaps out for the insurance carrier. Good on you for persisting, that means you will be here next year to enjoy those events. Have him check your iron too. I am not in the medical field but reducing my red meat intake made me anemic.

Yes Marko please take care. I am anemic always, poor diet I suspect.
Glad you forced the dr to do blood tests. Here they love to send us for blood work. Like vampires.

Good. I try to get blood tests every few years. Iron wasn't included in the standard testing. I asked because of my dietary changes.

I get blood tests every 6 months because of my thyroid. And while I like my dr, he must have failed how to take blood in med school because it always hurts more than when someone else does it.

Marco-Hope you feel better.Got to be damned proactive with Dr's these days. They're under lots of pressure to cheap-out from their corporate masters.I (respectfully) call & email my Docs & PA's all the time re clarification, etc.I want precise info on all the meds I'm chugging down on a daily basis.
    Retirement : How to get stuff done,lot's of blessed time finally ! Daily Routine:4 Advil,Coffee,some Yoga,check BP,more stretching,breakfast,take meds,check for Dr's appointments,finally ready to hit the yard-ah sh*#@,it's 3:30 already ?
    P.S.-MOTIVATOR-Pledge w/ beloved spouse-No junktiquing/picking till house/yard is winterized...now that is motivating!

Retirement, remember going to the mall years ago and seeing all the seniors sitting on benches to pass time. Now I am a senior.. where did all the time go and no I am not going to the mall to pass time. That would be way too depressing for me.

Do you drink plenty of water before you go for your bloods Pearls? I used to have problems until I drank two glasses of water an hour or so before I went up to the Hozzie. It plumps up your veins. The phlebotomist said it should really be mentioned on all the patients blood work forms so I put it in the suggestion box.

Yes,lots of water (but not after 7:30-8 pm-then i get 'geezer fatigue' from getting-up all night to tinkle). Sorry for over sharing, but a restful sleep's an essential supplement.

It really does help. The hospital phlebotomists are usually pretty good anyway at finding a good vein but when I tell them I’ve had two big glasses of water before I arrived for my appointment they are pleased and say how much it helps them.

I have to fast before most blood tests, have them at least quarterly. I use Labcorp here, doctors really aren't great at blood draws. I also have a thyroid nodule, have it biopsied every two years. Sister has Hashimotos. I do have excellent insurance, BCBS Horizon Direct 15, but the cost just went up and it's about 10% of my gross pay a year. I cover hubby and me. Pension payments are about 8% of my gross pay, and I also have to carry AFLAC disability insurance. I think it will be cheaper to retire than work....I have to at least go to July 1, 2023, to get 25 years in for full pension and reduced medical. Might be October 1, 2023....waiting on a pension audit I requested in July 2021-that's how backed up they are. I will be 66 June 30, and will wait to collect full social security on January 1, 2024, at 66 1/2.

My cat, Fangus, was/is very much under the weather. Not eating, not drinking. Not using litter box, vomiting....vet bills in the thousands.... hoping he turns around. He spent 8 hours a day for 3 days in my vet's hospital getting treatments. Eating is improving, litter box being used, still some vomiting. And now sneezing being exposed to other cats in the hospital. All I want is for him to get better. Hubby and I are also dealing with recurring gastrointestinal issues. Sigh. I count my blessings, though. I just want Fangus better. 20210730_090019.jpg

@Marko I hope your cat gets better. I know how hard it is to have a sick furball.

I also have nodules on my thyroid and get a sono once a year. Just had it done last month and all has remained the same. On synthroid now for about 24 years. One nodule is the size of a grape. I can't stand to have anything tight near my neck. My thyroid dr does all the work in his office, blood, sono, biopsies which is good so I don't have to run around to labs which is annoying.

    Take care and feel better.
