The pictures of the mark aren't good. The mark isn't clear with a 20x loupe. The 'GAB' is actually clearer in one picture than it is in hand.

Terry, I really haven't any help for you other than to say the mark on our right in the circle looks a little bit like a Mexican eagle mark. Nowww I doubt it is Mexican, but thought I'd throw out my first impression. Look at page 9, fig, I-5a, in this online Hougart's The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks book.

I can find no silversmith with the initials of GAB or CAB in this Mexican silver marks book. If it is an eagle mark, it would be nice if we could read the number on the eagle. There is a CAR that used an Eagle 3 mark. Again want to stress this is strictly a first impression!

This doesn't look quite right but did you see this? It is silverplate so they say, hope it's ok to post this, didn't see anywhere saying not to.

I did see that. It could be that amphora upside down to the initials stamp. It is really too poor condition of a stamp to say it's not.

I do believe you and "say" have it. Look at this posting on the Silver Salon forum. The maker is IDed in the 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st replies ***UP*** from the bottom with a better pic is there.
