Any Jewelry, yes you are right, the tail of the flower brooch has big similarities to a tiny flower brooch from the Netherlands I have.
But omg, what did I do? Now I have set the bar so high! :nailbiting:
Normally I don't buy pieces like these often.
In reality I m a very big cheapskate.
You have to believe me! :)

I understand. I skipped a historical society sale today because my last hit was so big, anything else was bound to be a letdown. The problems of actually hitting a lick. (may we all have such problems!)

You wouldn't be Dutch instead of Belgian, would you?;)
From one cheapskate with the occasional lucky strike to another, I believe you.:)

Any Jewelry, Dutch, Belgian, French...we used to be part of one or part of the other so its one big melting pot.
    Speaking of which:
These are the family members of my latest brooch.
All are Flemish, except for the small brooch in front, that came from the Netherlands.
The 'earrings' on top reside in my repair box, as they are lacking their posts.
I forgot which stylised flower they all represent though...
I must admit I was a wee bit disappointed when I bought the brooch yesterday: I have been on the lookout for an 'en tremblent' for ages.
    A next time  A5A7B17C-ABF2-4CB7-B78C-8B2F0F25C6FC.jpeg

    Beautiful, the lot of them.
True, and in the end all children of the old Frankish kingdom. I am part French, and we have Belgian relatives as well.
I can imagine why you thought it could be. But it is gorgeous even if 'static'.

I'm going with it as being part of a watch fob. Could be male or female. pin added later, after 1906. I think that a better dating would be 1880 - 1900. Extremely nice!

Marie Forjan, I m not the best at cleaning/polishing jewelry (I got a big scare when I accidentally broke a really nice 19th century brooch):depressed:
But my 13 year old daughter seems to really enjoy cleaning silver so I ll ask her :smug:

That reminds me, I need to polish up a necklace I scored on Saturday. 1980s Los Ballasteros, of all things.

JMHO but on this, with lots of nooks and crannies, I would use Wright’s Silver Cream. It is a foaming polish you put on with a damp sponge that comes in the jar. Once your done you just wash the foam off with water.

Never use a dip like Tarnex, much to harsh and it leaves a cloudy finish!
