Just looking for any information you can give me really, it's another one of Mums treasures I know nothing about.

I'm supposed to be de-cluttering my bedroom but keep finding jewellery I've squirrelled away which is far more interesting than sorting out clothes.

1950s or thereabouts and absolutely typical. Nice one, too.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

HAHAHA!! We're supposed to be downsizing our "EVERYTHING" to get ready to move into a senior housing community, and I'm doing EVERYTHING but doing THAT!!!!!! I'm SOOOOO BAD!!!!!!:hilarious::joyful::D:rolleyes::facepalm: Which is one reason I'm "trying" to hang back from here....a bit....SO hard to DO!!!!:jawdrop::jawdrop:

What is this downsizing of which you speak?

@Ownedbybear, we're seriously looking at a Lovely 2 BR Senior Housing Community which has EVERYTHING from 'soup to nuts'.... can have 2 cars (but no garages) and pets! I mean...go in healthy as a horse, and if you progress to end of life care needed, you can have Hospice in....it's ALL there! As well as SO MANY activities available included...you name it...I think it's there!! Our house is getting too much for us.....it's technically a 3 BR ranch, but one we use as a computer room....we're on a cul-de-sac, been here 35 years and the oldest ones on it, and just have too much stuff that we've collected over the years as well as from our parents! Partially finished basement level to add up to a total of 1600 or 1800 sq ft. But what's down there is mostly "excess STUFF"!! DH is 84 and I'm not too far behind.....the one thing the SR housing DOESN'T offer is storage space (and I don't blame them...we NEED to ELIMINATE STUFF!!!) That's the "downsizing" of which I speak before we can get into the Senior Housing....I believe the 2-BRs are just under 1200 sq ft! PLUS, I'm not sure we can do a 'Spring date' which they suggest they now might have....that we can always put off......a bit!!!!! PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thing jewelry doesn't take up much room. I have quit buying at sales unless it is valuable and easy to sell on line. I have been doing really well on jewelry around here. I am a decade younger than you . I can still take care of the stuff but I no longer really want to. Good choice to go in while still healthy.

There are concepts on this thread which are utterly alien to me.

I think there is room for a little more in your spare bedroom @Ownedbybear?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Aqui, I just moved from a house approximately the size of yours to a two-bedroom apartment of about 1100 square feet. The apartment is not in senior housing, although I could qualify for that. Anyway, I highly, highly recommend hiring somebody to help with downsizing before you move. I tried to do it on my own, but had lots of distractions and did only a little over several months. I tried contacting a company that advertises that they help with estate sales and/or clearing out homes. Emailed them and they never got back to me. Think I wrote again, then gave up on them.

Next I heard from a friend about a young woman whose side job is to help with organizing and decluttering. She came over for one visit and gave some advice, then offered, optionally, to come over for one hour a week and help with any area I wanted her to. She came over about 5 or 6 times, and also took away anything I wanted to donate to charity. She also took away any items that could be recycled (but not trash or garbage). A few months later I was ready to actually pack and thought of other areas to declutter and she came over again a few times.

Still, after all of that, I had too much stuff for the apartment. But it's a lot better than it would have been without her.

By the way, a good friend of mine and his wife have moved several times over the last few years. They have lots and lots of stuff and are not ready to get rid of it. They rent remote storage spaces and seem happy with that. So that might be a possibility.

And now that we've gotten off track, just want to say that I really like this necklace! But don't know much about it.
