Featured carved wood frog bowl

hi all

something i found in our village antiques shop today, was cheap £10 but has a small crack/split near rim

i think its gorgeous, really thin, light wood

cant find anything similar, if i was guessing i would think art nouveau, but unsure

any help with origin, age and thoughts very much appreciated

I immediately thought Japanese, looks possibly to be by the same carver (but I like your frog better). Good buy for a tenner!

 

Yeah I did have a feeling it was a goodun house

As I held it high over the heads of my niece and nephews when I came home

It's surprisingly thin and delicate

 

Wood cracks- someone kept in in the attic for a while, bless their little idiot hearts. The carver did a goshawful amount of work in that, and I defy anyone to find something similar newly made for under 200. That's a heckuva score.
