Featured Hoo hoo who made this owl pin?

I usually am a thrifter/antique store kinda person but I bought this online because I am an owlish sort and liked it. It was sold as a pot metal Victorian pin. It's about an inch and a half wide. I purchased it from someone in North America but I don't remember the region.

It looks older than new. Is it? Any insights as to when it was made, where, and even how are appreciated! Also, I would love a link or advice on how to temporarily convert it to wear as a necklace. It is a bit front heavy so I think it would tip forward with those t shaped tube converter things but maybe not?

Early 20th that is. I can't see it that well, but vulcanite or maybe bog oak. You could pin it on a backing maybe.

 

That's a total keeper. Love it! Definitely older.

 

That's great news! I was sceptical about the Victorian thing from the start but wanted it to be older than my grandma at least . I WISH it had bog oak. It does show very badly (dim room and the thing is very dark) but it is all metals. The owl is the same colour as the back and there is a thin layer of silver coloured metal surrounding the rhinestones.

Everything's a keeper! Haven't gotten the courage to sell and if I did I have a kagillion christmas things to go first .

 

Hm. I'd get a Sunshine cloth on that and see what happens.
