Amazing Kyratango, seeing your repairs makes my humble attempts fade into nothingness.
You saved this piece and gave it back its beauty
Although, I was a member of the other forum (the name escapes me, sorry) some years ago, I think I might have seen some of your repairs there?
my nickname might have been another chocolate...noir de noir or something similar:happy:
I tried to kick off of jewelry collecting but the bug got me for good;)

I suppose it is Collector's Weekly, I posted a lot of my bricolages there! And it helped me to identify a mysterious maker of nicest Edwardian paste jewellery, who used a sort of Etruscan urn mark. This mystery went all over the world for years before I found advertisements with several of my pieces bearing this mark, and then a member stepped in with her comb in box with papers with that mark!

ohhh the '58 in my name stands for the latest Belgian World Expo '58. Dessert58 is a (delicious) chocolate flavor that Cote d Or invented for Belgiums World Fair. You can still buy/eat it till this day :joyful:

But numbers are just numbers. I have an ancient soul.

So many gorgeous pieces. About 8 of them are my very most favorite. This is one arena where I cannot compete. Best I can do:

Rosi Clytie 2A1.jpg Rosi Clytie 2A2.jpg

Cameo by Luigi Rosi, "Clytie". The whole thing is quite small, not much over an inch either way.

I gave my nephew my favourite large silver cross and necklace for his birthday

He looked at me after and said

So do you believe in God then ?

    I replied........... Yeah ?

    He said, well I didn't expect that ??? !!!

My Javanese cross, set with Martapura diamonds.
Although Indonesia is dominated by Islamic and indigenous beliefs, Catholicism was introduced by the Portuguese in the early 16th century and there are still Christians of several denominations. Martapura diamond crosses like this are extremely rare though, this is the second one I've ever seen, and the other one was a plain cross shape.

The seller thought the stones were glass and asked a matching price.:playful: I saw the greyish tone and three facet cut, and thought: Martapura diamonds. Just to be sure I tested them, all diamonds.:woot::woot: Most of them have the old Indonesian 3 facet cut, the central stone is a 6 (top)facet rose cut.
It was bought in the early 30s by a well known Dutch actress on tour in Java. It already had age at the time, my guess is second half of the 19th C.
I call it the "Elly Cross", after the actress.
