Hi there,
So I'm a little confused as to what these are. I thought they were little individual dessert holders but I'm not completely sure. Also, the date is a little confusing too! I can't tell if they are from the 1860s or the 1930s! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no guru, but if I'm reading this link correctly, it's between 1930 and 1935. This also assumes that you've shown all the marks / numbers.

Gosh, they remind me of egg ring molds, though frying one's eggs in rings of silver seems rather extravagant. And the pierced sides wouldn't function well...
What size are they and how many are in the set?

When I first bought them they had little brûleé dishes in them but they didn't belong to them. They're about 6cm in diameter and 2.5cm in height. There's six in the set.

 

I think those are missing glass liners.

If you heat them over a flame or on an electric burner, aren't you going to melt them....if sterling?????? OR am I totally off base?

 

It would be the glass insert that took most of the heat, right?
(BTW, I was just saying in my earlier post that they reminded me of egg ring molds, I didn't mean to suggest that they actually could be such.)
