    painter is most probably one Franz Wagner who worked in Vienna from 1894 - 1908. personal data unknown. the story about a family Wagner is denied by German and Austrian experts; the most plausible explanation for the long era of using Wagner signatures seems to be that Wagner was a master painter who controlled all items by auxiliary force/hands and signed them himself when he thought them satisfactory for the kiln.
    newer investigations show that it was known to old porcelain painters that a.o. Julius Greiner in Lauscha and others signed with Wagner after his death because it sold so well.
