Having a hard time determing what these characters are on the inside of this pottery bowl. Sort of resemble characters but could also just be decorative...I can't decide. Also, it has a really silvery glaze, what's behind that?

At best, those might be Hiragana or Katakana, not Kanji... so, Japanese. From the shape, glaze, it could be Japanese... Not sure, but similar flat bowls, around 5" in diameter or so, sometimes smaller, were and are still used to drink sake (rice wine.) No idea what value it may have. Those could also simply be decorative motifs... if decorative, then could also be Chinese... or just a product of someone experimenting with ceramics and glaze...

This is a flat sake bowl...

It measures about 7-8" in diameter if that rules it out at all. I've never heard of a sake bowl, will have to do some looking. Thank you

Neat dish. No idea of age, but I would also lean towards Japanese, or might also be studio pottery. Just a thought.
