    Hi All,

Is anyone able to identify the maker of this soft-paste, fluted 18th century cup & saucer based on the pattern: Derby, New Hall, early Worcester, Caughley...?

    TIA,
    Biju

How do you identify this as soft-paste? (Short of a piece having a chip, I don't think I could tell.)

I don't think it's Worcester or New Hall -- it does look similar though. Couldn't find an example quickly, but here is one that is Worcester or New Hall. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194321159215

I suppose starting with what it might not be might help get to what it might be.

These are painted borders from the book Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790 by Branyan, French and Sandon. This page shows the simplest patterns with successive pages having more complex designs.

Thank you for the pattern pages. Do you think my border is similar to number 11?

If it's all right with you, I can copy a couple of the photos and query a group that I know will be able to say whether it is or isn't 18th c British porcelain. Let me know if you'd be OK with that.

SIS beat me to it. Yes, it was ID'd as New Hall by the other group. And, as SIS stated, likely hard paste.

Great to know they could verify! I'm so skeptical of so many seller descriptions :)
