Glass artist John Bingham was easily found online. Was wondering how much of a flaw the following is...

There is a line of bubbles in the glass as shown. Not a scratch on the surface, this is embedded in the glass. It is a very uniform piece and this line is fairly pronounced in the hand, to my eye, a bit distracting. Planning to list on Ebay. Any idea how best to describe this and/or comments. Is this kind of thing a deal breaker for a paperweight collector, etc.? Thanks.

I am not collector, but I have about a dozen paperweights. So I would describe myself as a dilettante of this art form. Bubbles are a real turnoff for me, when I see them in a paperweight unless they are a part of the design. I would wait for opinions from real paperweight collectors about how much this flaw depreciates its value. Apparently the artist thought it was good enough to sign.

Simple description to include "a line of bubbles" and it would be a deal breaker for me.

I guess I'll just describe it as above, take photos and list with a low starting bid --we'll see what happens.

Actually would be fine getting $30 for it. I'll give it a shot.

    Thanks!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

How about "the artist in his creativity was able to instill within a beautiful line of fine bubbles rarely seen in this type of paperweight" -or some such!!!!!!!!!:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I would mention "line of bubbles"...and I agree with Kiko..unless part of actual design..it is a turn off for me especially when in such a visable spot. Some buyers are not as fussy.

    That would be nice! :)

One thing, I'm going be sure a buyer knows what is what. Will mention it both in condition and description.

It is fairly distracting to my eye (only in certain light, but still...) Perhaps someone who collects this artist will want it at a discount.

    Thanks, all.
