I suspect that's one of the Indonesian pieces that came in by the boatloads in the 1990s.

No clue, that's why I decided to get on here and ask. Thought someone may have seen one before. Not a reproduction and looks older than my pictures make it out. Not saying it is a 300 year old antique but it is definitely not a recent piece. I like it either way, just thought I would try to learn more about it. Appreciate everyone's time!

Yes, it is Indonesian, and stained. And yes, I have seen them before. They are still making and exporting these.
It is an attractive piece and it doesn't have to be old to be enjoyed, imo.

It was probably made in East Java, if you want to search further. Most furniture manufacture is concentrated in Pasuruan, not far from the city of Surabaya.
It could also have been made on the island of Madura, just across the water from Surabaya.

You were correct. Just found one and it said it was Indonesian from early 20th century. I will look into the areas you listed. I like the stories behind things. Thanks.

The design may date to the early 20th century but I'm very doubtful your piece is that old. Late 20th century or early 21st century much more likely.

Agree. The design may be much older, but so are many furniture designs. And many sellers get it wrong.;)

Exactly. Or just copying what another seller said.
