What would you call this? Folk art

A type of folk art really, right? Came from the home of a well respected artist. They liked Mexican and South Pacific Island native folk art a lot and had tons of funky things like this everywhere. Little altars or idols or what have you. Many were hodgepodges. Some native to those places surely and maybe some they created from bits and pieces. What would you call this if you had to? Looks like a Balinese or that general vicinity mini mask. The rest doesn’t look like it from within a couple thousand miles of there at least. Fun piece. I like it a lot but can’t imagine where I’d put it. 71C2D4E5-80E7-4105-9F80-6C41D1536433.jpeg

I'd say "well the artist apparently liked it."

I wouldn't consider it folk art.

The mask is afixed to the very front of the chair, under the pink flower. Took me awhile to find it and figure out what it was, too.

I was confused by all that candy pink tule.
The partial miniature mask, which has no business being anywhere near a toilet roll doll(?), is part of a Sri Lankan souvenir. It is missing its side 'wings', which probably doesn't matter in this combo.
I would call it home craft something, certainly not folk art.

    Enjoy!:joyful:

Kinda reminds me of a time about 20 years ago when DH and I were on vacation. We stopped in Portsmouth, NH on a Sunday morning and walked around town looking in shop windows. I saw one odd window, then another, then a third and realized they all had Barbie and Ken dolls involved in various displays of bondage :woot:

"Ook" isn't the word which sprang to my mind, but it's much more descriptive.
