Help w/signature on nice painting

    Can someone help me make out the signature; I see Vera or Vara but nothing on the last name.
    2nd one is unsigned -was wondering if it's a good one (well done?)

    And the painter of #2 was not a meteorologist or at least not one who passed a course in wind direction. ;) Maybe he was just a lousy sailor.

    Obviously - what do I know?!
    I thought 1st was well done and 2nd was ...nice; bright & nice, but I had no idea if good which is why I asked.
    My taste in art is embarrassing!
