Featured Glass Pitcher - Maker and Color?

This pitcher is 14" tall, and I'm wondering if anyone knows who made it. Lots of shelf wear on the bottom edge, polished pontil.

Now, the mystery for me is the color. For the most part, I see it as green - sort of avocado green. But in certain light, I see it as purple, not green at all. My children think I'm crazy (maybe, but I know purple when I see it). In the last photo below, the pitcher was absolutely purple to my eyes, but as soon as I held up my camera, it was green through its lens. Does anyone else see another color?

    Thanks,
    Janice

I see as much gray as green.

I don't think you're crazy. Sounds like dichroic glass. I have had the experience of trying to photograph a color change sapphire when it was under light that made it look bright peacock blue, only to have the camera 'see' it as its usual purple.

Love the sleek shape of the pitcher.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Didn't someone post a like shaped pitcher (but not the same color!) a while ago???? I Also don't remember what was said about it, but I DO remember seeing it!!

Some rare earth glass does change color (neodymium/alexandrite for one) and photographing it isn't fun.

It's very Whitefriars, even the colour, but the shape isn't quite right.

I see green as well but almost a smoked look too.

Reminds of MCM American glass like Pilgrim or even Winslow Anderson for Blenko.

Yes, it's similar to those, but the placement of the handle and the little filip at the bottom of the handle are different. Erickson's #277 pitcher looks like it, though the catalog says 13" tall and mine is just under 14".

I know this sounds daft, but have you had cataract surgery? That can imbue with purple.

This isn't colour changing in the true sense, anyhow.

And the more I look at it, the more I think it's Whitefriars. They did a greenish brown. Willow, I think.

Yes, recently had cataract surgery in both eyes. The world is much brighter, and I did notice that the bluebirds that nest just outside a door were a much more vibrant blue than last year.

After I had cataract surgery in one eye it was strange to close one eye, then the other, and see the difference. Seemed the cataracts made everything much more yellow and dull!

Urg. Can't find an image of a sparrow beak with a plain handle rather than celery. I may have to go fish one of my own out.

Here's a screenshot from my Erickson catalog. #277 sure looks right except for the small difference in height.
