Hello crock experts! I just purchased this yesterday at an auction for a bit less than $300. No idea on the maker; no stamp to be seen. It's 11" across at the lip and 12" tall. The cobalt embellishment states "4" (as in gallons, of course), with an embellished flower underneath. Looks like a rose, poppy, or peony. No idea where this might have come from or who made it. It was sitting with 2 crocks from Vermont, so maybe it's from there? The auction took place about 1,000 miles southwest of Vermont. There are no flaws in the crock that I can detect. So, did I overpay? underpay? Yes, I know its all good if you love it, but one likes to know Is it worth insuring? Thanks my friends!

Up in the northeast stoneware can go pretty cheap sometimes. The really good stuff probably mostly brings about what it should though. The little I know about it, if it’s not the maker it’s the skill or uniqueness of the cobalt artwork. Yours looks pretty nice. I wouldn’t think there is any meat left on the bone at $300 though. That would probably be the high end of its value IMO. Unless something points to it being extra early or special. It’s a real nice looker though! Condition looks amazing. Just my 1 cents.
Send Crocker farm pics, and let us know what they say. I need to do that someday, maybe if you do it I’ll get motivated
