    Hi All,

    Can anyone help identify the maker of this clay / stoneware pot? It's 4.75 inches tall.

    Thanks!

    The first guy reminds me of Flemish paintings of tavern scenes; the second made me think of commedia dell'arte. Taken together, looks like a message about how drink can make fools of men. Sides are like Greek theater masks. I'm sure there would have been one for a drunkard.

    That impressed numbering style is often German or Austrian.

    @Any Jewelry on the costume!

    Ditto.:)
    The one with the beer tankard, maybe from a Brueghel painting?
    The other one looks like Pulcinella from the commedia dell'arte. The Pulcinella character was adopted in other countries, under different names.

    Thanks for your input everyone. I see the themes you're referencing in the figures. I would really love to know the maker - I do agree that the mark looks German or Austrian. Hope somebody can help identify.

    It looks like early Villeroy & Boch to me - the mark also looks reminiscent of a V&B hallmark - maybe that’s a starting point…

    Thanks for the lead, but the mark on mine seems to be an eagle depiction, while the early V&B one was a Mercury head? Thoughts?
