Any ideas with signature? This is a woodblock print, right? Outer frame measures approx 18 x11".

If we can't find the signature, do you think this merits continued research? Thanks.

Thanks, all. :) Another mystery! :dead: Try googling, "Bono" anything and it's not woodblock prints.

It could be a name like Borst for sure-- people sign fast, so who knows what those last letters are.

If anyone thinks I should do a lot more research on this, please speak up. It was a thrift purchase, of course the 1960 NYC connection got me interested, but didn't know if it could be something quite interesting or a student work even. The colors are kind of fun, but there is a little buckling of the picture itself which isn't good as far as condition. It's a small run at 7/20, not sure if that points to a more amateur artist or not.

I appreciate the help with this.

I tried a number of different types of searches, I couldn’t find another example by this artist. I did however, find lots of vintage photos of sidewalk art fairs in Greenwich Village. I suspect the artist may have participated in these. 20 prints of a multi color woodblock requires a lot of work. I am guessing there are examples of other prints by this artist. Still not sure on the signature. I think buyers in NYC would have interest in this, it has a cool mid century vibe.

Thank you for trying your research skills too, Lithographer. :) I agree that someone in NYC might like this. Have to think this set of buildings is somewhere on W. 10th street -- would love to nail down the exact address as there's a possibility those buildings are still standing.

Looks more like a serigraph to me.

Oh, might be a serigraph! Good to know, especially if I might try to list this. I'm not sure I know how to tell the difference between woodblock and serigraph.

I'm photographing through the framed glass, but here are some close-ups and I think these pics can be blown up further if it would help determine what this is.

I notice in this last one that some of the blue seems to have come off one part of the picture onto another -- does that suggest Serigraph?

No expert here but I’d guess screenprint (likely a silkscreen given the date but best to use screenprint or serigraph) and purposely off register. Charming print IMO done by a trained artist.
