Not mine I’ll start by saying. It’s in a lot described as Chinese carvings. I can’t tell what the base is that the hand sits on. Almost looks like a nut of some type. Not the type of nuts I know Chinese to carve though. Maybe darker coral? Since it has a little bale it could have been a charm or pendant? I know the clenched fist was popular in the Victorian era. I did find some Chinese carvings of the fist too. This is the best photo available. Just curious what the material is really if anyone knows. 57204B41-F402-4ECA-A079-222190CD9425.jpeg

The picture is very fuzzy so there's not much detail that can be seen. But I'll tell you what it reminds me of, blown out caged glass.

I have no idea if little pieces of jewelry were ever made like this with blown out caged glass. It's a new idea to me and it will be interesting to see what the jewelry people have to say!

I just found a pendant lamp at random in an image search as an example of why I think it looks like caged blown out glass.

Thanks for that bit of history, Dagger...I have a machete with a carved hardwood clenched-fist grip. It's in a scabbard marked B.W.I., which I'm assuming means British West Indies. Both of them show age aplenty.
EDIT: Very soon to be viewable under Metalware here.

Your clarification makes this thing even more confusing lol. Now it looks like leather kind of. The finial looks to be repaired or maybe on a hinge. Good news is that I now own it. Whenever I go pick my stuff up I’ll offer pudding with some proof in it.

Edit: whoops this was supposed to be a direct reply to Aquitaine’s post.

it does very much resemble that stuff. I love always like that production style visually. I just got an old silver plated bowl that similar bulbous bulges like that kind of. Aquitaine’s image clarification makes it looks like a soft leather like material to me now. I’ll let everyone know what it ends up being I purchased the lot today online. Most out of curiosity for this piece.

AND sometimes Gigapixel will take it too far and do some distorting....so I try to watch it closely!!!
