Unsigned mid century painting has 'Hillside Original: 483P' on frame?

I found these 2 paintings yesterday at a local thrift store - the larger mid century looking painting has no signature but on the back of the frame it has 'Hillside Original 483P' - I'm thinking it may be an American factory painting but I'm not sure & I like the look, so I thought I'd check here to see if it has any value (like Lee Reynolds paintings) and/or if it is a good painting?

The 2nd one has a signature, but I can't make it out. At first I thought it looked like it may be a Mexican tourist piece but the characters look oriental, And it looks like it's painted on a silk like material? Can anyone recognize the name?
I didn't pay a lot for either but I wanted to check here before I sold them to make sure I don't have a collectible & didn't know it.

My hunch, at expert that I'm not, is you're about the first one. The second looks Asian to me - Japanese. A real expert will be along shortly who knows what they're talking about.
