Pendant necklace ID and Date help!

Hi,

Have another piece which I would love to date and ID!
This pendant necklace is 835 silver and has ZII. stamp, and 'AD+' mark. Has a red glass center stone, heavy chain. Any idea of the age or origin?

German, Dutch or Scandinavian probably, post-WWII and probably on the newer end. Beyond that, dunno.

 

Germany or Austria, the kind of jewellery that is often worn with Bavarian and Austrian dress (Trachten). Some of these are set with real Bohemian garnets, some with garnet glass.
A lovely style, typical of German speaking Central Europe, not Nordic. It is based on Historic Revival styles of the 19th century, which in turn were inspired by Renaissance and Baroque jewellery.

Could you post a photo of the mark? It sounds familiar, I probably have some similarly marked pieces myself.

 

Thank you for this! So interesting, I really see a Baroque style influence here and was hoping that the center stone was garnet.
I tried to take a close up of the mark, but its so small that you cant even see it zoomed in on my phone. Its just AD+ mark in the rectangular box.

 

I think it could be.
Since you like jewellery, maybe it is worth your while to buy a gem tester. I have a cheap "Diamond Selector II" which I bought on ebay years ago. There are lists online of gem hardnesses (Mohs scale) for reference.

Btw Afat, with those Dutch import marks, are you Dutch?
