Nothing out there yesterday for me, I did get my nephew some Hawaiian shirts for $3 each. I did find this for $5, graduated banded white agate.

I haven’t been to the carboot for months. It wasn’t as hot as it has been so today off I went. Had a lovely day and lucked out on one stall. I spent £14 for all these items. Some 9ct gold, the bar brooch (not diamonds) and the seed Pearl pendant, missing dangle. I think the chain there might be brass though, I’ll have to test it. 14ct ring and cameo mount.
4 Silver rings, the marcasite/green material is glass, marcasite and silver necklace, faux pearls but nice marcasite silver clasp, Lourdes crucifix, porcelain Cupid brooch.

Haven’t had such a good finds day for ages! Sadly the seed Pearl pendant chain is only brass.

Went far for a sketchy description estate sale this morn.

Turns out they were flea market dealers and it was mostly their unsellable crap.

Apparently they only know the mark "STERLING" as silver.

This was sold as a 'set' for $7.00.

Polishing was not pleasant. HCl had no effect. Brasso got some off. Finish with simichrome.

What do you suppose these extra marks on the bottom of the smallest are?

No idea, but I'd take that for $7 too! Take it and run, that is.

As promised. Estate no-sale or estate no-sale, I did find some stuff. The glass is signed. What I thought was Swedish silver flatware was Swedish silverplate. (sigh) OTOH the jewelry/junque/antique store turned up trumps. Dunno who made the rhinestone piece, but the pearls are pearls. The cuff is a bummer - found a side to side crack when I got it home. Kate Spade. Glued it but... darnitt. The silver bracelet is heavy and marked sterling. Need to test it - that came from a yard sale. The heart and bitty pearl pendant are both 14k. The chalcedony and labradorite earrings aren't marked and I haven't tested them, but the the metal is incredibly soft. The prize of the month may be the camphor glass. It looks like rhodium plate, and is, but the stone dead center goes ZING! to the top of the diamond tester. Checked it twice. It's too old to be moissanite.

One pleasant surprise for me at the local flea yesterday - a sweetie to add to my small collection of Victorian Sowerby opaque pieces. Here on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, USA, British Victorian pressed glass is a rare find. I found all these pieces over the last 30 years, two at antique shows, the rest at yard sales or fleas. The white cream and sugar is attributed to Sowerby but as far as I know, not positively.

The new one is marked with a red arrow :)

Marie, are there any particular Sowerby ones you're after? I do see it a bit.

Yes, somehow I find Sowerby and have developed a real liking for it. There was an estate sale last year that had three nursery rhyme pieces. I was #8 online getting in and by the time I got in they were gone :(

I have been kicking myself for years, when I had the chance to buy a blue, basket weave dessert set (small cake stand and plates) I passed on it. At the time I really didn't have the money to spend on it, but I still regret it. It's always the one that gets away that we remember!
